What do I need to know?
Whichever treatment you have, I will give you a glass of water afterwards. This is to flush out any toxins that may have been worked out by the treatment. It’s a good idea to drink plenty of water for the rest of the day as well.
It’s also recommended that you take it easy after a treatment, not because going to the gym or back to a busy office will do you any harm, but simply because the more you relax afterwards, the more beneficial the treatment will be.
I always tell clients to listen to their body after a treatment, and just go with the flow.
It goes without saying that I take client confidentiality very seriously. I will never discuss your details with anyone without your consent, and only then if I felt that your health was at risk (eg. consulting your GP, another therapist etc.).
In some instances, symptoms may get worse before they get better, particularly straight after a treatment. You may also find yourself feeling a bit headachy or fluey within the first 24 hours. This is called a healing reaction.
It’s quite rare, and not a bad thing, in fact it’s a sign that things are starting to shift, but it can be unnerving if you’re not expecting it. Drinking plenty of water after a treatment can significantly reduce the chances of you going through a healing reaction but if you do, just listen to your body and take some time out if you need to.
